  • 2 tablespoons butter omit for a dairy-free version
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated optional, can substitute with nutritional yeast for a dairy-free alternative
For Cooking
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil can use vegetable oil as a substitute

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper on both sides. Let sit for about 5 minutes.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook chicken for 5-6 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove chicken from skillet.
  3. In the same skillet, add butter and allow it to melt. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add trimmed asparagus and sauté for 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
  5. Pour in heavy cream, stirring gently. Bring mixture to a gentle simmer and add lemon zest and juice. Allow sauce to thicken for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Return the sautéed chicken to the skillet, simmer for another 3-4 minutes to reheat and soak up flavors.
  7. Garnish with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh herbs before serving.
