Step-by-Step Instructions for Creamy Chicken Sausage Orzo
  1. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 12 ounces of sliced chicken sausage and cook for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add chopped onion and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes until soft. Add 2 minced garlic cloves and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  3. Stir in 1 cup of orzo pasta and toast for about 1 minute, stirring frequently until golden.
  4. Pour in 2 cups of chicken broth, add 1 teaspoon of thyme, ½ teaspoon of paprika, and ½ teaspoon each of salt and black pepper. Simmer for 8 to 10 minutes.
  5. Lower the heat and stir in ½ cup of heavy cream and ½ cup of shredded cheese until melted. Add back the cooked sausage and mix everything evenly.
