Step-by-Step Instructions for Rose Pasta
  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions in salted boiling water until al dente, about 8-12 minutes. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Sauté the minced onion for 3-4 minutes until translucent, then stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add the tomato paste to the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Reduce heat to low, pour in the tomato sauce and heavy cream, sprinkle in the Italian seasoning and oregano, and adjust salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  5. Toss the cooked pasta in the creamy sauce, adding reserved pasta water gradually if too thick.
  6. For shrimp, sauté separately and fold into the pasta if using.
  7. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the pasta and serve hot garnished with cilantro.
