- Soak the prepared onions in buttermilk for 10-15 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, breadcrumbs, and seasonings; whisk until blended.
- Remove onions from buttermilk, coat with flour mixture, ensuring it gets between the petals.
- Heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry coated onions for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
- For the dip, mix buttermilk, mayonnaise, garlic powder, dill, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Serve onions on a platter with the dip in a small bowl.
