- Prepare the Onions: Peel the small onions and trim the tops while keeping the root end intact. Cut slits from the top to the root to form petal shapes. Rinse gently and pat dry.
- Mix the Flour Coating: Whisk together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in a bowl.
- Prepare the Egg Mixture: Whisk the eggs and buttermilk in a separate bowl until smooth.
- Coat the Onions: Dip each onion in the flour mixture, then the egg mixture, and finally roll in breadcrumbs.
- Air Fry: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Spray the coated onions and arrange them in the air fryer. Cook for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve: Let the onions cool slightly and then serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
