Step-by-Step Instructions for Christmas Sausage Rolls
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a medium skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Sauté the onion and garlic for 3-4 minutes until softened. Remove from heat and combine with sausage meat, sage, thyme, black pepper, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet to about 1/8-inch thickness on a floured surface.
  4. Cut the puff pastry into rectangles, roughly 4 inches by 6 inches. Place a generous spoonful of the sausage filling along one edge of each rectangle. Roll tightly and seal the edges with your fingers. Brush the seal with beaten egg.
  5. Slice each roll into smaller portions, about 2-3 inches wide. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet and brush the tops with beaten egg.
  6. Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!
