Step-by-Step Instructions for Christmas Sausage Rolls
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a medium skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Sauté the onion and garlic for 3-4 minutes until softened. Remove from heat and combine with sausage meat, sage, thyme, black pepper, and salt in a bowl.
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet to about 1/8-inch thickness on a floured surface.
- Cut the puff pastry into rectangles, roughly 4 inches by 6 inches. Place a generous spoonful of the sausage filling along one edge of each rectangle. Roll tightly and seal the edges with your fingers. Brush the seal with beaten egg.
- Slice each roll into smaller portions, about 2-3 inches wide. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet and brush the tops with beaten egg.
- Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
