  • 1 Egg White No substitutes recommended.

For Frying

  • 1 inch Ginger Fresh is best; ground ginger can be substituted.
  • to taste Dried Chilies Adjust based on heat preference.
  • 1/2 cup Ketchup Can substitute with tomato puree mixed with sugar.
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce Use tamari for gluten-free.
  • 2 tbsp Chili Garlic Sauce Sriracha or sambal oelek are suitable substitutes.
  • 1 tbsp Vinegar Can use rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar.
  • 1 tbsp Sugar Adjust to taste; honey is a natural alternative.
Finishing Touches
  • 2 Green Onions Can replace with chives.
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Seeds Optional garnish.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by slicing your chicken breast into thin strips and place them in a bowl. Add the egg white, cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Let this marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  2. In a large skillet, heat vegetable or canola oil over medium-high heat. Carefully add the marinated chicken strips in batches, frying for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown.
  3. In the same skillet, reduce the heat slightly and add sesame oil. Add chopped garlic, minced ginger, and dried chilies, sautéing for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Stir in ketchup, soy sauce, chili garlic sauce, vinegar, and sugar into the skillet. Allow the sauce to simmer for 2-3 minutes until it thickens.
  5. Once the sauce is ready, gently toss the crispy chicken pieces back into the skillet, ensuring each piece is well coated.
  6. Remove your Dragon Chicken from the heat, serve immediately, and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
