- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a floured surface and place it on the lined baking sheet.
- Mix almond paste, softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and half of the beaten egg in a bowl until smooth.
- Spread the almond filling down the center third of the pastry, leaving space at both ends.
- Cut diagonal strips along both sides of the pastry at about 1-inch intervals.
- Fold the strips alternately over the almond filling to create a braided effect.
- Brush the top with the remaining beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
- Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
