Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a floured surface and place it on the lined baking sheet.
  3. Mix almond paste, softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and half of the beaten egg in a bowl until smooth.
  4. Spread the almond filling down the center third of the pastry, leaving space at both ends.
  5. Cut diagonal strips along both sides of the pastry at about 1-inch intervals.
  6. Fold the strips alternately over the almond filling to create a braided effect.
  7. Brush the top with the remaining beaten egg for a golden finish.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  9. Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
