- In a medium bowl, whisk together 4 large eggs, 2 tablespoons of milk, ¼ teaspoon of salt, ¼ teaspoon of black pepper, and a dash of paprika, if desired. Whisk until the mixture is frothy and well combined.
- Place a non-stick frying pan over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter. Allow the butter to melt completely.
- Once the butter is sizzling, pour the egg mixture into the center of the pan. Allow it to cook undisturbed for approximately 30 seconds until the edges begin to set.
- Carefully place two slices of thick bread on top of the partly cooked egg. Press down gently with a spatula to ensure the bread soaks in some of the egg mixture.
- Using a wide spatula, gently flip the omelette over. Add another tablespoon of butter to the pan. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
- Once flipped, sprinkle ½ cup of shredded cheese over one half of the omelette. Allow it to cook for about 1 minute until the cheese melts.
- Carefully fold the omelette in half over the melted cheese using the spatula. Let it cook for an additional 30 seconds to warm through.
- Finish by garnishing your French-style bread omelette with freshly chopped parsley or chives. Serve immediately.
