Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8x8-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  3. Cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add in egg, vanilla extract, and buttermilk to the creamed mixture and mix until smooth.
  5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Spread the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 18-20 minutes until done.
