Preparation Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine bread flour and salt, then mix in the yeast mixture and olive oil until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in an oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Prepare the pesto by combining basil, garlic, pine nuts, Parmesan, and salt in a food processor. Drizzle in olive oil until smooth.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread the pesto on it, leaving a border. Roll it tightly and pinch to seal.
- Place the loaf seam-side down on a baking sheet, cover, and let rise for another 45 minutes. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Score the top of the loaf and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- Allow the bread to cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes
For optimal results, check yeast activity, leave borders while spreading pesto, and allow thorough cooling before slicing.
