Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by placing a non-stick frying pan over medium-low heat. Allow the pan to warm up for about 5 minutes.
  2. Spread a generous layer of butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
  3. Carefully place the slices of sourdough in the pan with the buttered side facing down.
  4. Layer 3-4 slices of mozzarella cheese over each slice of bread.
  5. Add a heaped tablespoon of basil pesto over each layer of cheese, spreading it gently.
  6. If desired, sprinkle sun-dried tomatoes and pre-cooked bacon over the pesto.
  7. Top each sandwich with another layer of mozzarella cheese.
  8. Place another slice of sourdough on top of each sandwich, buttered side up.
  9. Lightly press down on each sandwich to secure the filling. Cook for about 3-4 minutes.
