Gingerbread Loaf Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 1-pound loaf pan with parchment paper.
- Sift together all-purpose flour, baking soda, kosher salt, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and ground cloves.
- Cream softened butter and light brown sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Mix in molasses, then beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk, without overmixing.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 50–55 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 20 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For frosting, melt butter and allow it to brown before mixing with cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until creamy.
