  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil olive oil is a great alternative
  • 2 cloves garlic fresh cloves provide a wonderful aroma; garlic powder works in a pinch
  • 1 tablespoon ginger adds a zesty kick; ground ginger can be used if needed

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil adds a rich, nutty flavor; substitute with another oil if necessary
  • 1 tablespoon honey balances the heat with sweetness
For Garnish
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds provide crunch and visual appeal; omit if unavailable
  • 2 stalks green onions freshness in every bite; regular onions are fine as an alternative

Equipment

  • Skillet or Wok

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers, about 1-2 minutes.
  2. Add 1 pound of sliced chicken breast to the skillet, ensuring it's in a single layer for even cooking. Stir-fry for 5-7 minutes, or until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through.
  3. Once the chicken is cooked, stir in 2 cloves of minced garlic and 1 tablespoon of minced ginger, sautéing for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Next, add sliced bell pepper and onion to the skillet. Stir-fry the vegetables for about 3-4 minutes until they are tender yet still crisp.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together 3 tablespoons of gochujang, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, and honey.
  6. Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken and vegetables in the skillet. Stir well to combine. Allow it to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  7. Remove the skillet from heat and sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions on top for finishing touch. Serve the stir fry hot over steamed rice or noodles.
