Step-by-Step Instructions
- Prepare the Cookie Layer: Blitz your chocolate cookies in a food processor until they achieve a fine crumb texture. Mix with melted butter if using, then press into the base of a trifle bowl or individual cups.
- Make the Chocolate Pudding: Whisk together the eggs and sugar in a saucepan. Gradually add hot milk, stirring continuously. Cook on low until thickened. Divide and stir in dark and milk chocolate separately until smooth.
- Whip the Cream: In a mixing bowl, beat the chilled heavy cream and vanilla extract with an electric mixer until soft peaks form.
- Assemble the Trifle: Layer dark chocolate pudding over the cookie layer, followed by whipped cream. Alternate layers with milk chocolate pudding and more whipped cream. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
- Chill the Trifle: Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Decorate and Serve: Prepare chocolate ganache with cream and dark chocolate. Drizzle over the top and add optional toppings before serving.
