- Melt 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add thinly sliced onions with a pinch of salt and sauté for about 10 minutes until golden.
- Drizzle in balsamic vinegar and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, then set aside.
- In the same skillet, add remaining butter and let it melt. Layer cheese, caramelized onions, sliced apple and pear on one slice of bread, top with remaining cheese and cover with another slice.
- Grill the sandwich on medium heat for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
- Allow to cool slightly, slice, and serve warm.
