  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley Can substitute with basil or oregano
  • 1 medium Onion Finely chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced (or 1/4 tsp garlic powder per clove)
For the Sauce
  • 1 cup Red Wine Use a fruity red like Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon
  • 1 can Canned Tomatoes Crushed tomatoes preferred
  • 1 cup Beef Broth Opt for low-sodium

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Finely chop one medium onion and several cloves of garlic.
  2. Gather all ingredients for easy access during cooking.
Mix and Shape
  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, parsley, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix gently until just combined, then form into golf ball-sized meatballs.
Brown Meatballs
  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Brown meatballs in batches for 3-4 minutes on each side.
Make Sauce
  1. Deglaze the skillet with red wine, scraping up bits from the bottom.
  2. Add crushed tomatoes and beef broth, bring to simmer.
Braise Meatballs
  1. Return meatballs to the skillet, cover, and cook on low for 30 minutes.
Final Touches and Serve
  1. Check meatballs for doneness and let sauce simmer to thicken if desired.
  2. Serve over pasta, creamy polenta, or with crusty bread.
