Ingredients
  

For the Meatballs
  • 1 pound Ground Beef lean for less fat
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs gluten-free option available
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 small Onion finely chopped; can substitute with shallots
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce ensure gluten-free for options
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Thyme substitute with dried oregano if desired
For the Gravy
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil can replace with butter
  • 2 cups Beef Broth can substitute half with red wine
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch mixed with water
For the Garlic Herb Mashed Potatoes
  • 2 pounds Potatoes Yukon Gold recommended
  • 1/2 cup Milk use cream for extra richness
  • 4 tablespoons Butter can be omitted for lighter option
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley chopped

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and thyme. Mix gently.
  2. Shape mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place on a lined baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  3. While baking, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic until translucent, about 3–4 minutes.
  4. Add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce to the pan. Bring to a simmer. Prepare a slurry with cornstarch and water; stir into gravy until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. In a pot, boil salted water and add chopped potatoes and garlic. Cook until fork-tender, about 15–18 minutes. Drain and return to pot.
  6. Add milk, butter, salt, and parsley to potatoes. Mash until creamy. Adjust seasoning as needed.
  7. Combine baked meatballs with gravy and simmer on low for a couple of minutes.
  8. Serve mashed potatoes topped with Salisbury steak meatballs and drizzle with extra gravy.
