Method
 

Directions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Shape the meat mixture into patties, approximately 1 inch thick.
  4. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Brown the patties for about 5 minutes on each side.
  5. Sauté chopped onions and sliced mushrooms in the same skillet for 5–7 minutes.
  6. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring to combine. Simmer for 3–5 minutes.
  7. Return the browned patties to the skillet, spoon some gravy over them.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  9. If desired, add shredded cheese during the last 5 minutes of baking.
  10. Serve hot with your choice of sides.
