- Soften the unsalted butter at room temperature and spread it on one side of each slice of bread.

- Layer with sharp cheddar cheese over the apple butter completely.

- Place the remaining slice of bread on top, buttered side up, and gently press down.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and grill the sandwich for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
- Flip the sandwich and grill for an additional 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and oozing.
- Remove from the skillet, let cool for a minute, then slice in half to serve.
