Ingredients
  

For the Beef
  • 1 lb Flank Steak Tender cut; skirt steak can be used.
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce Use tamari for gluten-free.
  • 1 tbsp Peanut Oil Can substitute with vegetable oil.
  • 2 tbsp Cornstarch Used for marinade and sauce.
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Soda Optional tenderizer for meat.
For the Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Chicken or Beef Stock Flavorful base for sauce.
  • 2 tbsp Shaoxing Wine or Dry Sherry Depth of flavor.
  • 1 tsp Dark Soy Sauce Optional; skip for lighter sauce.
  • 2 tsp Brown Sugar Can use white sugar.
For the Veggies
  • 1 head Broccoli Main vegetable; can substitute as desired.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced for flavor.
  • 2 tsp Ginger Minced for aromatic kick.

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Slice the flank steak against the grain into 1/4 inch thick pieces and marinate with soy sauce, peanut oil, and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch for 10 minutes.
  2. Whisk together stock, Shaoxing wine, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, brown sugar, and the remaining cornstarch to make the sauce.
  3. Steam broccoli florets in boiling water for about 1 minute until bright green and tender-crisp, then remove and set aside.
  4. Heat a tablespoon of oil in a nonstick skillet over high heat and cook marinated beef for about 1 minute, flipping halfway.
  5. Add garlic and ginger to the beef, cooking for another 15 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Return broccoli to skillet, pour sauce over mixture, and stir gently; cook for another minute until sauce thickens.
