For the Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup Rice Cakes Use instant tteokbokki or substitute with thick pasta.
  • 100 grams Fish Cakes Optional for vegetarians; can use tofu.
  • 2 pieces Hard-Boiled Eggs Omit for vegan version.
  • 2 packets Ramen Noodles Instant ramen is ideal.
For Garnish
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped Green Onions
  • 1 tablespoon White Sesame Seeds

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, sugar, gochugaru, gochujang, and minced garlic. Stir until the sugar dissolves and set aside.
  2. In a large pot, bring 3½ cups of water to a boil and add the anchovy stock tablets. Stir until dissolved.
  3. Once boiling, add the prepared sauce and let it simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Add chopped cabbage and green onions, followed by rice cakes. Simmer for 8-10 minutes until cabbage is tender.
  5. Create a space in the pot for the protein, adding fish cakes and halved hard-boiled eggs. Heat through for 3-4 minutes.
  6. Place ramen noodles in the center, cover, and simmer for 3-4 minutes until tender.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions and white sesame seeds.
